GARDINER, Todd Terrance William Anthony

(Proud member of Local 397 Carpenters’ Union Port Hope)

On Thursday August 3, 2017, which was his father’s birthday, a tragic highway 401 accident took the life of Todd Gardiner and his cousin Michael Glazier while on their way to their annual Calabogie Family Golf Tournament.  Both were hoping to bring home the championship trophy for a second year in a row.  Tragedy struck and this very bright light went out for the last time.  Todd was a lover of sports that included ice hockey (OCHL), ball hockey, golf and bowling which he excelled at them all.  He also coached young kids in ball hockey and was asked to coach ice hockey in September.  When Todd was born he was given a hockey stick by his Uncle Dave and he never gave up the love of the game.  Dallas Stars have lost their avid fan! Todd loved Monty Python and would often put on skits.  His friends say Todd’s smile would light up any dark room.  Todd is survived by many broken hearts; his parents Terry and Pauline, his loving girlfriend Nicole McGee, many aunts and uncles and lots of cousins that were more like brothers and sisters to Todd. To list the names of the many friends Todd had, who considered him their brother and all the broken hearts that were left as a result of this tragic accident, would more than fill this page.  Todd had a bright and loving future until this terrible accident took his life.   Todd was met at the gates by his grandparents Mary and Bill Glazier, Anthony and Velma Jean Gardiner, Uncle Ken and Aunt Bonnie and his beloved pets Buddy, Toby, Sassy, Chance and Smokey.  Like his mother, Todd was a friend to all animals and he will be missed by Rupert and Chloe.  The family have asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Humane Society of Durham Region.  Relatives and friends may call at Westminster United Church, 1850 Rossland Rd. E. (at Garrard Rd.), Whitby, on Friday August 11, 2017 from 12 noon until the time of memorial service at 3:00 p.m. with reception to follow.  Arrangements entrusted to McINTOSH-ANDERSON-KELLAM FUNERAL HOME LTD., 152 King St. E., Oshawa (905-433-5558).

To Pauline and Terry and all of Todd's close family and friends:

My deepest condolences. My heart ached for you all when I heard the news. You are some of the nicest, most caring people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. You treated me like family the first time I came to visit and every time since which makes this hurt even more.

Todd was such a bright spot in everyone's life. Our entire Scriptwriting class and staff of 2011 at Algonquin has expressed sorrow for his loss. There is not one person from our class who did not love Todd. He made everyone laugh and smile. He was bursting with creativity and energy and I'm saddened he was not able to put even more of his creativity into the world. I am so incredibly grateful to have been able to work with Todd on several writing projects which are some of my fondest memories. I will forever remember Todd's unique good humoured nature, his conviction, and his heart and passion for the things he loved.

    Dear Terry and Pauline,

On behalf of myself and my mother Amanda, please accept our deepest condolences on the untimely death of your amazing son Todd. It was shocking to hear the news and affected us deeply.

He was an amazing person, and it brought back memories of growing up with him. He was always laughing, telling jokes and brought a smile to everyone’s face whenever you were near him. My mother remembers all times she volunteered at Newcastle public school and had the pleasure of reading with Todd; he was someone who was truly unforgettable.

Todd blessed the world with 26 amazing years and will always be remembered. Please reach out if you need any help.
