JENKINS, Edward Kenneth
In his 90th year, Ken passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health in Oshawa on Saturday, November 24th, 2018 with family at his side. Beloved husband of Norma Jean married June 1, 1956. Loving father of David and wife Susan of Invermere BC., Daniel and wife Rosemary of Enniskillen., Andrew and wife Jasmin of Toronto. Dear grandfather of Laura, Aaron, Alec and Olivia and great-grandfather of Isabelle. Brother of Muriel Crooks and the late Steven McEvoy.
Bell Canada employed Ken for 35 years. After retirement, he was self-employed as a telecommunications consultant. He returned to school as a mature student, studying part-time, and received his B.A. from the University of Toronto. He continued to feed his passion for learning taking courses over the years including French and meteorology in his eighties.
From 1964 until 1983 he owned, trained and occasionally drove harness racing horses in Ontario and Michigan. Ken enjoyed over 50 years at the "camp" on Prince Lake, near Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario with his family, Norma Jean's family, and many friends. Family and friends will be received at King Street Community Church, 611 King St. W., Oshawa (905-433-8100) on the 18th day, December 2018 at 3 p.m. for Visitation then Celebration of Life Service, social to follow. Donations in memory of Ken to the church would be appreciated. Cremation arrangements entrusted to McINTOSH-ANDERSON-KELLAM FUNERAL HOME LTD., 152 King St. E., Oshawa (905-433-5558).
