    I had Mr. Holden as a teacher and he has remained a favourite. His influence and example made a lasting impression. I still speak well of him whenever old schoolmates get together. My wife later worked with John and remembers him as a kind and gentle man. Our condolences to his family.

    Dear Pat;
       It is always so sad to hear of the passing of someone who has been important in our lives.
    John was such a lovely man and a fun university colleague. It was a joy for us to be able to share a meal at your house with you, the Holdens and ourselves.
       It was also a treat that John was well enough to attend the award night at Victoria College for Bob Wong. He and Art had a very nice time together.
       Our sympathy goes out to you and your family at this sad time in your lives.
       Sheelagh was just telling me the other day how much she loved you; always so good natured and welcoming.
    We can certainly attest to that.
       All our best thoughts are with you.

    John and I started our teaching careers the same year at Donevan Collegiate. I knew John to be a supportive,empathetic,and caring teacher who had a calm demeanor about him. He was a true gentleman.

    I grew up across the street from the Holdens. I remember how amazed I was each time Mr. Holden brought home a fire truck! I thought it was incredible! Sending hugs and comforting thoughts to Mrs Holden, Ruth and Mary.

    My day was always a little brighter when John would drop in with some parts or equipment we had ordered. He would always have some Fire Department history to share. It was always a pleasure

    Rest in Peace John
