FAIRHART, Michael Henry
With broken hearts, the family of Michael Henry Fairhart share the news that Mike has finally moved to the front of the chairlift line and has been granted a perpetual ski lift pass along with a guarantee of bluebird weather and pristine snow conditions. At 97 years of age, his final run into heaven occurred on Monday, September 14, 2020. Born in Oshawa June 17, 1923, Michael was predeceased by his wonderful wife Marion and his daughter Sheila. He is survived by his sister Charlotte, his children; Patti (Peter), Mike (Linda), Charles, Mary (Don) and Jane (Dave), his grandchildren; Jessica, Brent, Jamie, Patrick, Mack, Lindsey, Lauren, Sarah, his great-grandchildren; Nora, Alex, Milo, Gabriel, Aria, Brea and Jayla, along with many nieces and nephews. Family was always Mike’s number one priority with him sharing his love of downhill skiing, golf, tennis, music and the outdoors with his immediate and extended family. While he made plenty of time for fun and recreation during his retirement years, giving back to the community was his second priority where his time was spent delivering Meals on Wheels, driving cancer patients to and from Toronto, volunteering with a number of disabled ski programs; the list goes on. Mike’s children would like to thank the wonderful staff of Hillsdale Estates and, in particular, the staff of Pineridge Place. Their loving care and devotion to Mike during his time at Hillsdale was second to none. The recreation and music programs, along with weekly pubs and bingos helped to make his final years most enjoyable. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the McINTOSH-ANDERSON-KELLAM FUNERAL HOME LTD., 152 King St. E., Oshawa (905-433-5558). A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mike’s memory to either the Alzheimer’s Society of Durham Region or SickKids Foundation would be appreciated. Online condolences can be shared at makfuneralhome.com.

It is with a very saddened heart, I send my condolences to the entire Fairhart Family. Mike was a lovely man and I most remember his great sense of humour in past conversations growing up with the family. He was such a nice man, always made me feel welcome, like part of the family. He will be missed by everyone, my heart is with you all. Sorry for a great loss, Lorraine

On behalf of my sister Anne (Stovell) Venning and myself, I'd like to send heart felt condolences to all the Fairhart clan of Byng Ave. Mike Sr. was in my mom and dad's wedding party back in 1951. Mike Jr and I have stayed in contact since the 60's and continue to do so to this day. It was always great to see Mike Sr. always smiling, laughing and on occasion I was able to get some "golf balls" from him on my visits. He was a lovely man and I know you all loved and cherished him. He will be missed. A big hug to you all. Wayne

I, along with the Board of Directors and Management team of the Oshawa Ski Club o/a Brimacombe would like to express our heartfelt condolences to the Fairhart family. Mike was such a bright thread in our clubs colourful fabric of members and volunteers out here on the slopes. I have fond personal memories of Mike, whether it be the club fun days he ran, seeing him working with skiers that required adaptive equipment or simply assistance to just chatting with him about the ski day in general. Mike (Jr), Patti, Chuck, Mary, and Jane, and to all Fairhart extended family, my sincere condolences. Mike (Mr. Fairhart to me) was such an important figure in my youth it is difficult to express my sadness at his last chairlift ride. The ski club, afternoons and evenings in the Bying Ave. pingpong and ski prep and repair centre, evenings on the 106 Bying ice rink, living room music sessions, and folk mass at St. Greg's, with Mike's calm and always engaged presence, are experiences that I will always cherish. Godspeed.
