He was like a big brother to me. Helping build a pool in my backyard for my son. Just an all around sweet man. I have so many fond memories that I will treasure always. I am so sorry to hear about Garwin's passing. Sending my deepest condolences to all of you. I first met Gar when I started working at Extendicare, Medex at the time, many many years ago. We went through many changes over the years, different dietitians, different bosses, different names. Gar, you were so nice to work with, always helpful, always kind. I have great memories of all our staff Christmas parties. One year you packed in as many of us as would fit in your van and took us all to the casino. Wonderful memories.

    The last time I saw you was about 2 years ago. You came to see me and we sat in your car in my driveway and chatted for over an hour.

    Judy and family, you all have so many memories to treasure and I do as well. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

    Judy,
    I`m so sorry for your loss of such a wonderful man.I met Gar many years a go when we worked together at Extendicare, I`m thinking it was about 1975...we had a ball together as we were basically the only men working there at the time so we hung out whenever we had breaks or lunch and we ended up being good pals , went fishing etc...I left for General Motors and we drifted apart but i`ll always remember Gar as a decent guy..

    Judy;

    I don't know where to begin or what to say. My deepest sympathies go out to you. Gar was a huge part of my growing up. He worked with my mom but treated me like family. He would always give my mom a ride home from work and that would include picking me up from the babysitter's. We would regularly good for a beer as we called it, which was a root beer from the convenient store. I will miss him more than I know how to express. Recently I had gotten a card in the mail from you and Gar with congratulations on my getting married, this was Gar always there even living so far away I always knew he was there. Rest in peace Gar.

    All my love
    Justin

    My husband and I worked with Gar at Extendicare Oshawa back in 1977. I eventually became the other full time cook with Gar. We worked so well together and we became great friends with Gar & Judy and the rest of the family. Garwin was the one who gave Al my phone number to ask me on a date and the rest is history as we just celebrated our 39th wedding anniversary. The last I talked to Gar was in February of this year as he calls me every year to wish me a happy birthday and get caught up on the latest gossip. Judy, you and the family are in our thoughts and prayers.

    Oh Judy
     I'm so very saddened to hear of Garwin's passing. He was one of the most kindest, compassionate, generous friends I've ever had.
     There are special people in our lives that never leave us even after they are gone and I know Gar would be with us all today if Heaven wasn't so far away. Rest in peace Gar, Rest in Peace
